　　原收錄於Highway 61 Revisited專輯。這首歌敘述著一場超現實的夢魘，成功地塑造了一個保守、冬烘、和環境格格不入的Mr. Jones角色。這首歌問世之後，年輕人便以Mr. Jones來比喻那些不知變通、價值觀念保守、活在舊世界裡的人，他們無法理解身邊的事件，然而自己的世界和價值觀都已經被扭曲，眼裡看到的盡是惡夢般的景象，心中充滿焦慮，卻又無計可施。此刻就在舞台之下，Dylan正面對著成千上百的Mr. Jones。這是一首直接唱給他們聽的歌，可惜大部分觀眾的耳朵仍舊是關閉著的。

　　這首歌的編曲比專輯中的版本更沈痛、更悲傷、更無路可出。鍵琴手Garth Hudson的表現值得細細品嚐︰Dylan每唱完一段歌詞，Hudson便彈奏出一小段樂句，兩人一來一往、遙相呼應。「某件事情正在這裡發生但你不知道那是什麼！」……Dylan激動地唱著這句歌詞，挑釁著台下那些不滿的群眾。

　　Bob Dylan，是我來不及參與的傳奇。那時候在看馬世芳的《地下鄉愁藍調》時，就已經這么覺得。

　　但是我沒有特別去找來聽。因為我相信不管是聽對的歌、看對的電影和書、還有遇上對的人，對的時間非常重要。

　　對準了，就什麼都對了。

　　最近工作的關係，被Y提早遞送黑暗職場世界的入場券，anyway，整件事情我一直是旁觀者，苦的是在外跟C周旋的Y。

　　簡單來說，就是C感覺這次的公務來往貌似威脅她的權力感。她開始說話大聲，提出一些無理的要求，種種動作，在在都讓Y和我覺得，C在慌。

　　慌，因此失去理智，開始無理取鬧的宣示主權。

　　Y和我有某種程度上的相同，因此對這種人也有某種程度的不以為然，不過Y畢竟是個見過場面的人物，面對C的無理取鬧，一個笑容就四兩撥千斤的撥回C身上。

　　Y告訴我，將來我還會遇上不少這種人。

　　「我知道，但是他們很無聊。」活著還有更多重要與美好的事情去追求，這種人應該是還沒找到自己這輩子的終極關懷吧？

　　所以很脆弱，爬得越高越脆弱。

　　Y笑了：「所以我們就不要傷害他了。」

　　Y很難得，我知道在這個位置上還能告訴自己Nothing to lose的人太少。我上輩子一定是做了很多好事，這輩子才能在這節骨眼上遇見Y。

　　至於C呢，這時候請他來聽聽這首Ballad of a thin man再適合不過了。Bob Dylan那放蕩不羈的唱法，我實在好愛。
